Let the Semester Begin...

"They may forget what you said but they will never forget how you made them feel." - Carol Buchner

This semester is full of learning! As we completed our first session with Dr. Rivera and meeting Geri, I can't help but feeling as though I am really going to learn so much from these two ladies! It feels good, to finally have a classmate, to bounce ideas off of, and most of all the help, extra resource a peer can provide. As we went over the syllabus, I felt as though, I have to really keep on top of things this semester. I have my work cut out for me, and there is no time for procrastination. I was glad we went over the syllabus to discuss and have an idea of what we are going to be doing this semester. It was very helpful, and there were many interesting ideas and activities this semester. I know this week, is going to be our first week, and I hope I get through it, with my other classes as well.

Another New Beginning

A good book has no ending.
R. D. Cumming

Well, here I am ready to begin yet another course on my path to reaching my goal of getting a Masters degree. Having gone through the course syllabus and the calendar of events for ED642 with Dr. Rivera and Joe brought back memories of having done the same thing two semesters ago for ED644 with Team MAGEC (Mar, Annette, Geri, Erik, and Christine). Although I miss having them around, I already feel comfortable being around just Joe and Dr. Rivera, and I look forward to sharing the information and knowledge that I will be acquiring in the next few months with them.Align Center
I'm excited to be taking this course simply because it deals with children's and young adult literature. As a teacher in the elementary level, I'm thrilled that what I will get out of this course will most definitely help me in addressing student literacy. The workload seems intense, but then, why wouldn't it be when there is just so much out there in this area of education? So, as I continue on this road to being a reading specialist, I will take the knowledge that I will gain from this course and put it in my "pot of educational resources" to tap on when the need arises.
